Ainee Islam is the Program Director of the Oporajita Program at The Asia Foundation in Bangladesh, bringing over 15 years of experience in international development across Bangladesh, Nepal, Ethiopia, and the UK. Her work focuses on women’s economic empowerment, local governance, and inclusive development programming.
She leads flagship initiatives supporting women workers in the ready-made garment sector and contributes to program design and strategic implementation across multiple sectors. A certified Project Management Professional (PMP), she has managed complex portfolios, led multidisciplinary teams, and worked across both private and development sectors, bringing a cross-sector perspective to development challenges.
Earlier in her career, she held leadership and technical roles at Robi Axiata, Arabica Investments, Nathan Associates, and Innovision Consulting.
Master’s in Globalisation, Business, and Development from the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) at the University of Sussex, UK; Bachelor’s in Business Administration from North South University, Bangladesh.
