Mir Junayed Jamal is director of the Promoting Effective, Responsive, and Inclusive Governance in Bangladesh (PERI) program at The Asia Foundation in Bangladesh and a member of the country office’s senior leadership team. With over 21 years of experience in the development sector, he works on governance, democracy, women’s empowerment, and civil society engagement.
He has led innovative programs that integrate political governance, technology, and market systems approaches, including efforts to strengthen electoral transparency, civic participation, and women’s leadership. He has also contributed to regional initiatives advancing women’s rights within culturally grounded frameworks across South Asia.
He previously established and led key program portfolios, including election-focused innovation platforms and large-scale governance programs supported by major international donors.
Master’s in Development Studies from BRAC University; Bachelor’s in Computer Science from the University of Windsor, Canada.
