Program
Helping Women Expand Their Businesses
Launched in 2016 as Mongolia's first women-only entrepreneurial service center, the Women's Business Center supports women as they start, grow, and sustain successful businesses.
Women-owned businesses are a growing source of innovation and economic opportunity in Mongolia, but they often lack access to finance, markets, and business support.
The Women’s Business Center (WBC) helps women start, grow, and sustain businesses while strengthening the country’s broader entrepreneurship ecosystem. WBC launched in 2016 as Mongolia’s first women-only entrepreneurial service center. It provides comprehensive services that help women start and grow businesses while strengthening the broader entrepreneurial ecosystem. Through business services, accelerators, and incubator programs—including an expansion to Uvurkhangai province—the center also helps build a stronger and more accessible entrepreneurship ecosystem across Mongolia.
Impact
Supported 18,000+ women entrepreneurs through training and business services
Helped 100+ women-led businesses scale through business incubation
The center is reaching beyond Ulaanbaatar to provincial Mongolia, including to to Arvaikheer (Uvurkhangai Province) and a post-incubator space at the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The platform connected women entrepreneurs nationwide as a rapid response mechanism during COVID-19.
APPROACH
The Women’s Business Center uniquely bridges early stage and growth stage support within a single platform, strengthening women entrepreneurs and their pathways as community champions.
Working with government, financial institutions, business associations, and local partners, the WBC combines business training, mentoring, financial services, networking, and incubation into an integrated support system. Its model has expanded beyond Ulaanbaatar, creating a scalable platform that strengthens women’s economic participation and leadership.
Initially funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency and later by Global Affairs Canada, WBC is now supported by Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Key partners over the past decade include the Municipality of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Development Solutions NGO, Golomt Bank, Uvurkhangai Province Governor’s Office, and Ganabell Institute.
