Building Community Resilience Against Violence and Extremism
Communities across Pakistan face growing risks from misinformation, polarization, and violent extremism. The Punjab Social Cohesion Project increased local resilience by supporting youth, community leaders, and civil society organizations to promote peaceful dialogue, critical thinking, and social cohesion. Working with government, educators, and grassroots partners, the program combined psychosocial support, peacebuilding, digital literacy, and public awareness campaigns to strengthen community resilience while building stronger partnerships between institutions and local communities.
Accomplishments
- Supported more than 10,000 people through peacebuilding, education, and community resilience activities
- Delivered more than 8,500 psychosocial counseling sessions supporting youth and vulnerable communities
- Reached millions through nationwide campaigns promoting peace, tolerance, and digital resilience
- Established a multi-stakeholder project advisory committee that has been institutionalized within the National Counter Terrorism Authority, strengthening long-term government ownership of community resilience efforts
