Open and Accountable Governance
Like in other parts of the world, in many countries in Asia and the Pacific, public trust in government is waning. People expect governments to manage complex challenges fairly, transparently, and effectively, yet many institutions still lack the systems, information, and feedback channels needed to show how decisions are made and resources are used.
Rebuilding trust requires tangible improvements in governance: accessible information, institutions delivering better and fairer services, citizen participation, and leaders answering for their decisions. Targeted investments in service delivery, countering corruption, and gathering and sharing information are critical steps that TAF prioritizes.
APPROACH
TAF partners with government agencies, civil society organizations, community leaders, researchers, and the private sector to strengthen the systems and relationships that make governance more open and accountable. We design and deliver locally grounded approaches that improve access to reliable information, create practical channels for public feedback, and help institutions use evidence to make and explain decisions. Our programming works across all levels of governance from community and local governance to the highest levels of national and regional policy making, and our strategies contribute to the development of systems that will sustain good governance over the long term.
