Action Pathway
Women's Rights and Security
Many women and girls across Asia and the Pacific experience violence, exploitation, and insecurity, which undermines their rights, safety, and ability to participate fully in society.
Violence against women remains pervasive—an estimated one in three women experiences physical or sexual violence in her lifetime. Conflict, disasters, economic instability, human trafficking, and other crises are intensifying these threats and disrupting the systems meant to prevent violence and protect survivors. Strengthening women’s rights and security is essential to building more resilient and stable communities and societies, which is why we partner with local institutions and communities to protect and expand women’s rights, safety, and access to justice across Asia and the Pacific.

Amplifying Women’s Peace Actions
APPROACH
We partner with governments, civil society organizations, justice institutions, community leaders, and survivors to strengthen women’s rights and security through locally driven, evidence-informed approaches. Across Asia and the Pacific, we help improve laws and policies, expand access to justice and survivor-centered services, prevent violence against women and girls, counter trafficking, and transform the social norms that perpetuate inequality and abuse. With more than 70 years of regional experience and a network of country offices, we adapt proven approaches to local contexts, connecting local leadership with regional learning to build more effective and lasting solutions.
