Mekong Safeguards Program Featured in U.S.-Australia Joint Statement
The Asia Foundation’s Mekong Safeguards Program is featured in a joint statement released by the governments of the United States and Australia following the 34th Australia-U.S Ministerial Consultation held on August 6 in Annapolis, Maryland.

The Mekong Safeguards Program is a partnership between the U.S. and Australia that promotes environmental and social safeguards in infrastructure development within the Mekong subregion. The program supports policymakers, government regulators, major financiers, developers, contractors, and communities with technical assistance, knowledge, and tools to foster the consistent application of environmental and social governance standards, particularly for the energy, transport, and water sectors.
