Mochamad Mustafa oversees The Asia Foundation Indonesia’s Democracy and Governance portfolio as Program Director. A political economist and governance practitioner with over 15 years of experience, he works on democratic governance, decentralization, electoral integrity, inclusive governance (for women, youth, and persons with disabilities), public procurement reform, gender-responsive and pro-poor budgeting, and civil society–state relations across Indonesia and Southeast Asia. He has designed and managed multi-year, multi-million-dollar programs supported by DFAT, the World Bank, IFC, USAID, Global Affairs Canada, DANIDA, APEC, and the British Embassy.
PhD in Development Studies from the University of Adelaide; MA in International Development from Flinders University; BA in Islamic Law and Social Contract from Jakarta State Islamic University
