Expanding Opportunity for Women Entrepreneurs
We help women-led small businesses in Malaysia access digital tools and financing so they can build stronger, more competitive businesses.
Micro and small enterprises are the backbone of Malaysia’s economy, yet many struggle to adopt digital tools, access financing, and identify the support needed to compete in an increasingly digital marketplace.
Women entrepreneurs often encounter additional barriers, including limited access to technology, business networks, and financial services.
Launched in 2023, the Mastercard Strive Malaysia program addresses these challenges by helping more than 100,000 women-led small businesses strengthen their digital capabilities, resilience, and growth potential. Implemented by The Asia Foundation and the Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth, the program expands access to tools, networks, and tailored support to women entrepreneurs to grow their businesses and the Malaysian economy.
APPROACH
Mastercard Strive Malaysia combines research, digital innovation, and cross-sector partnerships to provide tailored support to small businesses. At the heart of the program is Strivers’ Hub, a one-stop digital platform that helps women-led small businesses overcome barriers to digital adoption, financing, and market access. The platform brings together business tools, educational resources, mentorship, financing information, and peer networks in a single accessible space. Through ecosystem partners including Mereka, FutureLab, and Wanita Berdaya Selangor, the program delivers practical, digital-first support that helps entrepreneurs strengthen operations, expand market opportunities, and build resilient, growth-oriented businesses.
